Lead Bread Baker – Rosewood Farm & Market (Batavia, IL)

We’re looking for an experienced and passionate Lead Bread Baker to join our growing team and help launch our new bread program! If you love the craft of baking, especially working with naturally leavened and artisan breads, this is an exciting opportunity to take the lead in building something from the ground up.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily bread production, including mixing, shaping, proofing, and baking.

• Develop and refine recipes for sourdough and artisan-style breads.

• Manage production schedules and ensure consistency and quality in all baked goods.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and food-safe work environment.

• Oversee ingredient inventory and ordering as needed.

• Work independently and manage time efficiently to meet daily deadlines.

• Assist in other prep and baking duties as needed

• Collaborate with the farm team to integrate seasonal ingredients and products.

Requirements

• 1–2 years of professional bakery experience, with a focus on bread and sourdough.

• Strong understanding of fermentation, dough handling, and artisan baking techniques.

• Ability to work early mornings and maintain reliability with scheduling.

• Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and standing for extended periods.

• Self-sufficient, detail-oriented, and a natural leader.

• Passion for quality ingredients, local food, and farm-to-table values.

Rosewood Farm & Market is a working flower and vegetable farm located in Sugar Grove, IL. known for its community-focused events, seasonal markets, and small-batch products. We’re launching a farm-based bread program and are looking for the right person to lead this next chapter.
